Degree of Lexical Similarity between English and Kurdish

چکیده

Indo-European languages are the native of habitants south and west Eurasia. It is largest spoken language family in world with 3.5 billion speakers, corresponding to 46% population. Kurdish English genetically related, belong same branch languages, believed have evolved from a common proto-language. Lexical Similarity measures similarity and/or difference between set words any given two languages. Despite abundance lexical coefficients various literature, there no available data on Kurdish, even though many natives learn as L2. The objective this paper estimate remotely related Our results showed (8.75%) (9.75%) according Leipzig-Jakarta Swadesh lists respectively; giving average (9.25%). In conclusion, used research proven be reliable comparison studied These cognates can helpful for learners teachers their acquisition process.
